How to Stream on Twitch From PC[Complete Guide]

People, nowadays are crazy about video games, especially teenagers and vicenarian. Even the lockdown phase, due to coronavirus has increased the number of people playing video games. Moreover, not only pro gamers love to show off their gaming skills online but they also earn a huge amount of money out of it. There are many live streaming platforms like HitBox, Beam, Azubu, and Twitch. One of the most popular among them is Twitch and people love to Stream on Twitch. Twitch is a video live streaming platform operated by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.

To start streaming your game on twitch is a bit complex process. But don’t worry, I’ve come up with a complete guide on How to Stream on Twitch Step-by-Step.

1. Sign Up in Twitch.

In the top right corner of the screen click on the sign-up button.

Enter a username and a password.

Confirm your password.

Enter your date of birth, month, year.

Enter your e-mail.

Enter your details and verify your account.

2. Using the Broadcasting Tools

To stream on twitch you need to have suitable software. Like, Open Broadcaster Software or Streamslabs OBS.

Here, we will understand how to stream using Open Broadcasting Software.

3. Download Open Broadcaster Software.

Go to the website- https://obsproject.com/ and download OBS.

It is compatible with your Windows, Mac OS 10.13+, and Linux.

4. Install OBS

For windows, it will download OBS-Studio-25.0.8-Full-Installer-x64.exe.

For Mac OS 10.13+, it will download obs-mac-25.0.8.dmg.

Finish the installation on your device.

The icon of the application is a black circle and three white curved lines that resemble blades.

Double click on the icon and open it.

5. Configuration

When you open the application for the first time, a small dialogue box will appear asking if we want to run auto-configuration.

Click on yes.

Then select, Optimize for Streaming, recording is secondary, and click next. This will prioritize streaming over recording.

Screen resolution: You can also customize the screen resolution by using the drop-down menu. The resolution, by default, will be set to 1920 x 1080. However, if you want to stream at a lower resolution, you can select 1280 x 720.

FPS(Frame Per Second): Here also, use the drop-down menu to select the fps of your choice. Select “Either 30 or 60, but prefer 60” if you want to prioritize a faster frame rate when possible. Or you can select “Either 30 or 60, but prefer high resolution” if you want to prioritize higher resolution over faster frame rates.

Click “Next” when you are done.

6. Select the Service

In the service drop-down menu select twitch. This will allow you to select twitch as your streaming service for your video stream.

Click on the Connect account (recommended).

7. Stream key

Click Use Stream Key and use your Twitch stream key to connect to your Twitch account.

In order to get your stream key, go to Twitch.tv and login to your account. Click on your profile image, and click Channel.

Click Edit next to “Customize your channel“.

Click on Copy next to “Primary Stream Key” to copy your stream key.

8. Finishing configuration.

Click Authorize to provide OBS  access to your Twitch account.

Click Next after which Twitch will perform a bandwidth test and finish configuring OBS for your Twitch account.

Finally, click, Apply settings.

9. Game Capture

In the box named source, click + and select Game Capture.

Type the name of the game app or leave it with the default name and click OK.

If you want to add video capture follow the same steps and select Video capture device.

Again, if you want to capture everything displayed on the computer screen select Display Capture.

If you cant see your webcam feed display on the screen, it may be behind your display capture/game capture feed. You can move different sources forwards or backward by clicking the source in the Sources menu at the bottom. Then click the up or down arrow below the Sources menu to move it forwards or backward.

You can click and drag each capture device according to your need. You can move it to the exact location you want it to go to the streaming preview window.

10. Start your stream

In the controls section in the lower right corner of the screen, click start streaming to start your stream.

Also, this same button will be changed to stop streaming so that you can use the same, button to stop your stream whenever you want.
